One of Australia’s largest emergency management events for the last 20 years, EMC will be staged in Melbourne on 6-7 October 2020.
Since 2001 it has been held annually in Melbourne and is the hub for the
State of Victoria.
The normal July dates were considered too close to the projected peak of the COVID-19 pandemic which is keeping the emergency management sector extremely busy.
Attendees are from the broad EM sector, including emergency services, police, ambulance, government authorities, local councils, health, land management and environmental agencies, transport and infrastructure, NGO’s and relief agencies and community organisations.
A fourth stream will be added to this year’s EMC program. It will be curated by the Bushfire and Natural Hazards Cooperative Research Centre as a two-day showcase of its latest research and will be open to all conference delegates.
The CRC Research Stream will also include a substantial poster display within the trade expo.
Most of the trade booths are already booked, and we are unsure that we will be able to accommodate any more exhibitors, due to anticipated distancing requirements. This is also magnified by the fact that several major EM events have been cancelled for 2020 and trade suppliers will be looking for alternative exposure opportunities.
EMC Melbourne is presented by the Emergency Services Foundation and has raised over $A750,000.00 for the Foundation’s important work in the Victorian EM sector. It is sponsored by
- Bureau of Meteorology
- Emergency Management Victoria
- Inspector-General for Emergency Management
- Department of Health and Human Services
- Department of Transport
- Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions
- Agriculture Victoria
