5th International Tall Building Fire Safety Conference – Tall Building Firefighting Summit
June 19, 2018 - June 21, 2018
The tragedy at Grenfell Tower UK, along with several other similar fires in Tall Buildings around the World has highlighted the need for a review of Tall Building Firefighting procedures. Tall Building Firefighting is one of the most hazardous and complex operations that Firefighters have to contend with.
The 5th International Tall Building Fire Safety Conference will take place on 19–21 June 2018 at Excel, London alongside the FIREX International Exhibition, supported by organisers UBM. Day 3 (Thursday 21st June) will consider current procedures for Firefighting in Tall Buildings. Firefighters from around the World will detail how they tackle the challenges. There will be plenty to share and discuss. Invitations have been extended to serving Firefighters from all five continents. With Early Bird rates available, anybody interested in attending is advised to book now as space will be limited.
Speakers already confirmed for the conference include:
- Justin Francis (Australia), discussing his Winston Churchill Fellowship studies into Tall Building Evacuation. Justin travelled to eleven countries to examine the current best practice.
- Navid Bayat (Iran), will provide a case study of the Plasco fire in Tehran (high rise fire where 20 firefighters were killed)
- Curtis Massey (US), detail current best practice regarding high rise firefighting.
- Mike Kelly (UAE), will give an overview of the Address Hotel fire in Dubai
Conference Director Russ Timpson commented, “this is a timely opportunity to get the Global Tall Building Firefighting community together and discuss a ‘way forward’. We are calling on all Fire Services/Departments to submit their own procedures for Tall Building Firefighting for review and collation of best practice.
FIREX provides a great platform to encourage people to travel to London and take part. With a great line up of World-class speakers, this should be a seminal event for those concerned with learning lessons from recent Tall Building Fires”.
All delegate will also get VIP access to FIREX and associated exhibitions. More details of Tall Buildings Conference can be found at www.tallbuildingfiresafety.com
